I am a Northumberland based photographer specialising in subterranean images, with a particular interest in mines and their associated history.

Working in underground locations presents many challenges. The darkness is absolute, providing a blank canvas on which to "paint" light, using flashguns and handheld lighting equipment. The hazards and obstacles involved in exploring underground, particularly abandoned mines, can be very demanding, not only on oneself but also on camera equipment, but the outcome can also be very rewarding.
